In a paternoster furnace the components (e.g. crankshafts) are placed on gondolas or C-hooks and passed several times through the usable space of the furnace in an up and down movement. The necessary time at temperature can thus a space-saving realization compared to a classic continuous furnace.

The furnace has an integrated cooling line so that the heat treatment is completely finished after removal. The continuous movement on temperature with minimum downtime and maintenance times is the key to the successful operation of the paternoster furnace.
